The Art of Rodney Tuttle

“The Artist's Garden”

Finally, a castle's-eye view of the junk pile below, the artist's front yard and garden, the country road, and the hillside beyond. The parallel horizontal lines created by the wooden fence, the tree lines and the road are what prompted this frame, unwittingly giving a lot of depth to an otherwise flat scene. Apparently not to disturb the neighbors, the junk pile is hidden from the county road by the 10-foot high wooden fence. The rest of the yard and garden (including a fully functional greenhouse) is quite orderly. Victor also had a network of black plastic piping laid out along the hillside used for solar heated hot water. I don't think it worked out to well in the winter, however, and eventually Victor and his wife moved to the Tri-Cities area of southwestern Washington State, near the Columbia River gorge, where the winters are milder.
